Since 1975, Women’s Skills Development Organization Pokhara is a Fair Trade Organization which has been working as a non-profit organization and income generating program for economically disadvantaged, physically challenged, abused, widowed, divorced, single, out caste women from rural Nepal by providing them free, finest vocational skill training and job facility to become self supportive. After arriving in WSDO they are provided training on following disciplines: material cutting, sewing, weaving, dying, business management and various other skill trainings related to handicraft. This results WSDO the best handicraft organization in Pokhara and an example of one of the successful local NGO in Nepal running for the last 35 years without any local or international donations. WSDO insures a production process which minimizes environment impact by using local raw materials and eco-friendly dyes. We are committed to provide our customers with high quality products and service. We now export more than 80% of our production to Europe, America, Australia and Asia. Hundreds of women are benefited from WSDO programs and thousands of people worldwide have enjoyed WSDO handmade products. WSDO provides every year a performance reward to the best women in their department. WSDO has its own cooperative saving & credit program, where the women can save money for future and the neediest one can borrow loan with nominal interest. WSDP also has a saving program for the senior teachers by depositing 10% of their monthly earning in an interest bearing account. WSDO provides clothing allowance, 60 days paid maternity leave, emergency allowance, free health checkups, education on social issues and environment, English language training, educational excursion, education scholarship to their daughters in WSDO.
